Support Your Clatsop County Leaders - WEDNESDAY

The Anti LNG force is busing in people from all over the state to protest at Wednesday's BOCC meeting, 6 PM at the Guy Boyington Building (the side street on 9th between Duane and Commercial). Olivia Schmidt with Columbia Riverkeepers had to stir up the forces because the locals weren't doing enough to get the word out, apparently!

Isn't it absolutely AMAZING how supposedly 69% of us don't want LNG here but we need to have OUTSIDE forces supporting us? It wouldn't have ANYTHING to do with the FACT that the last time the red shirts tried to overtake a BOCC meeting they were outnumbered 5 to 1, would it?

And why aren't all those Columbia Riverkeepers up at Puget Island protesting the dredge spoils that are being dumped there, not even a mile away from Bradwood Landing??? All THOSE Puget Island folks are going to be down here Wednesday night to scream at our commissioners about not protecting the Columbia River. Tell them to go home and protect the river from their island! But their money where their mouth is and give up their precious beach front and a couple of houses. Stop the dredge spoils from being dumped in the "pristine" estuary! So what if their island washes away, its the way nature wants it! If the dams weren't in place it would have been washed away a long time ago!

A call has been put out for all who give a dangit! about the direction of their county. These outsiders, and they are OUTSIDERS tomorrow, want to shape our land use decisions, they want to bully our commissioners, they want to force their ideals on us. They want to decide what rural america, rural oregon, should look like and how it should function according to their needs and desires. Soon, we will all become the bedrooms communities of Portland, Salem and Eugene, where the rich come to party and play. Nothing more than a service industry allowed to gain a foothold here. Look at the ONLY things these people have allowed in. Renovated motels, hotels, and artist abodes. THAT's IT!

AND NONE OF US ALLOWED TO DO ANYTHING WITH OUR OWN PROPERTY WITHOUT THEIR APPROVAL!

Don't let them take Clatsop County away from all of us! Come to the meeting Wednesday night. They will be protesting beginning at 5 PM. The meeting starts at 6 PM. Just come straight from work, from the woods, from the boats, from the cannery, from the mill! From the college, from the bakery, the salon, the restaurant, wherever you work!

What are they protesting? They are protesting a land use decision that the county staff has recommended be approved. Yes, the county staff that these same people (Olivia Schmidt along with Laurie Caplan and Marc Auerbach and Jim Scheller) have accused the Commissioners of NOT listening to!!!

Either way, the commissioners lose! If they vote against the staff recommendations and turn down the applicant's land use request the applicant has an appeal and LUBA will overturn the board's decision. The paper will HOWL that the loser commissioners aren't listening to their own staff.

If the commissioners vote to support the staff decision this crowd of people will start SCREAMING and the paper will write that the only reason the commissioners voted to support will be because they want to allow anyone with open spaces or park zoned lands to be able to change and POSSIBLY allow pipelines through their property!!!

GOD FORBID that this board should PROMOTE property owners being allowed control of their own property!

It will be interesting to see if this is a 4-1 vote. How do you folks in District 5 feel about Rohn being controlled by an out of town group of anti property rights folks like Columbia Riverkeepers?

One would think that Auerbachs group Northwest Property Owners blah blah blah would be for less government and more rights. They aren't. They have ONE purpose. No pipelines. And if that means YOU lose ALL of YOUR property rights in the process. Tough. They got their way.

Narrow minded people. And they want to run YOUR local government and YOUR life.

Come to the meeting. You don't have to speak. Just don't let the commissioners stand alone. The anti's have invited all of the media. Camera crews supposed to be there. SUPPOSEDLY to show all of Oregon that 69% of Clatsop County is against LNG. You think the media will tell the truth that all of those people are from out of town??? Home made signs welcome! I Support MY Commissioner! We Support OUR Commissioners! Choose one, make it, bring it. Hell, stick it on a name tag on your chest!

Businesses let your people out of work for this special meeting! Logging companies, mills, canaries, let those people go! If you don't speak out now, who will be speaking out for YOU???

Come to the meeting! Bring your kids, your spouse, your parents, your cousins, make it a family affair! If you don't start standing up to these people they will own this county!

What the county needs is a smaller meeting room.

Although I couldn't attend the meeting, I heard from a friend that the vote was 4-1 in favor of the zone change.

I would like to commend our Commissioners for standing up to the extremists that were demonstrating before the meeting, and not caving.

Of course, Rohne voted no, because he's in the back pocket of the anti-lng'ers. Why? I cannot understand this, because HIS DISTRICT will benefit the most from the Bradwood project. HIS school district will get much needed money to MAYBE become the school they once were. He's an embarassment to his constituents, as Sam Patrick was before him.

Good job Commissioners Hazen, Riechl, Samuelson & Roberts - You are doing the job you were elected for, don't believe that you aren't listening, because you are! To the MAJORITY of your constituents...thank you!

Thank goodness our judges on the County Commission know where their bread is buttered. The silent majority will be heard on October 27.

Ahhh, gossip, innuendo and lies. Thank god you post here, Jim, so we can be constantly reminded how you operate. Why don't you fly your banner nice and high and have Cindy carry it for you? "It is our right to misinform as many of you as we want, as often as we want, and we have a DA that will defend our right to do so don't you forget it!"

Not one of our commissioner's "bread" has been "buttered" by anyone. The ones making money, right NOW, on all of this business ARE those in the environmental business.

The longer they can drag this out, the more is donated to them.

The Sierra Club and the Pew Foundation making BILLIONS of dollars yearly. People, such as Olivia Schmidt, are PAID activists making just as much or more than someone like Pete Hacket, monthly.

Lawyers, such as Brett Foster & Brent VandenHuevel, are PAID to do their work. Their not "getting rich"??? HA! HA! and HA! They are usually paid a "paltry" $55,000 retainer BY EACH OF THE ORGANIZATIONS they represent or are officers of. Their salaries EASILY match that of people like Joe Desmond or Charles Deister.

The eco groups astro-turf so that they can make statements like, "Columbia Riverkeepers is only paying me $55,000 to represent them. I am not doing this to get rich folks!" Like HELL their not! They are paid by EACH AND EVERY organization they represent or are officers/directors/executives of.

Sierra Club pays its community activists $2500 per month, plus benefits. Paltry, you say? BULLSHIT, I say. That's $2500 for each organization they represent (activist representing CRK $2500, activist for FLOW $2500, activist for Sierra Club $2500 CHACHING, CHACHING, CHACHING!) PLUS traveling expenses (vehicle not solar and forget biofuel they laugh at that), material expenses (laptop, office supplies, video camera & gear), internet, plus medical & dental.

Suuuure their not in it to "get rich".

And these are the folks that want the rest of us to live in the dark!

They just are hoping we STAY in the dark, so we can't see what they are up to.

I like that other quote of the DA's. What was it about the "disinfectant of the bright sunshine"?

Actually, Hank, I agree with Jim in a way....

I think the silent majority WILL be heard on 10/27...and I think both of the commissioners will be retaining their seats and it will be a HUGE slap in the face of the VOCAL MINORITY that has created all of the hate and discontent in this county for the last few years.

I am sick and tired of them....did you notice that at their "rally" before the Commissioners meeting on Wednesday, that 2/3rds of the crowd wasn't EVEN FROM HERE????

It is disgusting.

Actually, there were very few from out of town at the rally on Wednesday. I recognized most of the participants as locals.

Excuse me "I was there"...but I beg to differ. Yes, the usual local people were there, which amount to 15 or so, but the vast majority of the crowd was brought by Olivia Schmidt and Brent Foster from Salem, Portland, and surrounding areas.

I know just about everyone around here, especially the anti-everything crowd. I can practically name every single one of them, and even if I don't know someone's name, I know if they live here or not.

I was there to support our Commissioners, to help them see that they really DO have people out there who know they're doing a good job.

Vote NO on the recalls!

So, "I was there", the anti everything people bussed local folks in from Eugene? And, the anti everything people were quite verbal with their claim that people from outside were rallying here. And the busses arrived with the happy faced liberals from the University of Oregon et al. Your claim makes no sense. Are you lying or do you just not know who is who here? Perhaps you are under the drug induced cloud from the event organizers?

Bringing in professional rabble rousers from outside our community sounds like a Roger Rocka/Jan Mitchel trick that they learned from living so long in California. Clearly, the Rockas (sorry, Rocka and Mitchel, for some reason Mitchel won't take the Rocka name) are behind the anti LNG scam. Are they now having to bring in outsiders to support their version of the truth? Have they failed here so badly? Maybe they would feel more comfortable back in California.

Yeah right. Like anyone should or would believe anything from the anti Bradwood crowd. No lie is beneath them.

You are making assumptions that I am anti-lng. I am not part of the anti-everything crown. I am a Bradwood supporter. Unfortunately you all feel the need to bash someone who states a fact contrary to yours. I saw the protesters and recognized many of them as locals. I sat in on the hearing and saw that the full house was mostly locals.

oh? well, I'm sorry...but somebody else countered your statement by saying they saw mostly out of towners at the protest or whatever it's called..of course, with so many of those goddamn californicators calling themselves "locals" now, who knows who is who.
