Hey, thanks for this site. I like the button at the bottom where I can click and get the ten most recent posts. Its great. I like the way its got different topics so I can go to the one I want to read without reading all the stuff I am not interested in. Anyhow, thanks.

for some people supposedly consumed by the DA your blog sure doesn't editorialize about him even a quarter as often as the Daily Astorian does. And even though your forum is pretty active about him it still covers a lot of the rest of the action around the county too. Coastwatch seems pretty obsessed either about the DA or about this site. But if it hadn't been I wouldn't have found this site so don't knock Coastwatch!

I too like this site. My questions are, who owns the skating rink across from the old lums? Is the skating rink in bad shape? Wouldn't it be nice to open it and use it? What is stopping the community?

Since it's owned by private interests, I'd say it's up to them to decide if it would be nice to open it--find out who owns it and ask them....
...can you imagine in this day and age how much liability insurance costs a month for a roller skating rink? Whooo boy...
I say do what they used to do with it...what could be better than Professional Wrestling and good Rock & Roll bands?...

Interesting you would mention that since the property is owned by private investments it's up to them to determine its use. Certainly, back in the day of either businessmen who believed they have a responsibility to the community that supports their business or those businessmen who knew that if they made a bad decision they would go under, your comment is accurate. However, in the 21st century it seems that the difference between private business and government is very blurred. Business neither recognizes its oblitations to its customers and the community that supports it with cash nor that if it makes a bad decision it won't get bailed out by the , yes, government or, in other words, us. So, why should not this property be used to benefit the community if it is not otherwise being used?

Interesting. Uhhhh....you wanna provide an example of a local business and government getting each other confused on which side of the blurred line they are on?
