Clatsop Animal Assistance Inc. is looking for a volunteer fundraiser/promotional event assistant for two to 16 hours per month to show cats and/or dogs available for adoption, talk to the public and to transport animals. Clatsop County Animal Shelter is seeking animal care volunteers for one three-hour shift per week to make the animals' stay at the shelter more comfortable. Duties include tidying their living space, exercising dogs, cuddling cats and encouraging adoptions by showing animals to prospective adopters. Foster Grandparent Program seeks low-income senior volunteers in Astoria/Seaside to help students with reading in area schools. Participants can earn: a non-taxable stipend of $2.65 per hour (which does not affect eligibility for food stamps, rent assistance, utility assistance or any state or federal program); mileage reimbursement; and insurance while serving. Orientation and training will be provided.
To be eligible, volunteers must: be 60 years old or older; be in good health; meet income guidelines of $1,064 (or less) per month for one person or $1,426 (or less) per month for a two person household; and pass a background check.

The North Coast Veterans Medical Transport Service needs volunteer drivers to man the five day per week schedule to provide cost-free, regularly scheduled point-to-point transport from Clatsop Post 12 American Legion and Seaside Post No. 99 to the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Portland and regional office appointments for all honorably discharged veterans.
Requirements for volunteer drivers are a valid driver's license, a good driving record for the last 10 years and a willingness to help fellow veterans. Benefits include earning DVA volunteer hours and a free lunch or dinner.
